Business Planning For February – Vlog 26

Since it’s the 1st of February I thought I’d talk about a few key things you can plan for your business this month. This is part of a 30 day vlogging challenge, started by Tiffany Dow.

Of course, planning is something you can do at any time of the month or year, but a new month is always a good chance for a fresh start. This planning list will help keep you on track and make sure you’re always doing something to keep you moving forward.

Watch the video or read the text version below…

1) Your Content

Any online business revolves around content. No matter what kind of content you put out, having a plan means it can all tie in with your paid offers/ promos. One thing to start with is thinking about important dates. e.g. Valentine’s Day in February. These can be used as a reason for a sale, or can give you ideas for special content to put out.

If you’re very organized, you could plan out every single blog post, vlog etc. However, if you’re not so organized (like me!) it still helps to have a rough outline so that all of your content is focused towards a goal.

2) Email Marketing

My last vlog was all about the importance of building your list, and keeping in touch with that list no matter how small it is. If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t always have something to say to your list, start the month by coming up with 4 ideas for content to send to your list. Then use these ideas in a weekly email. It’ll keep things ticking over so that your subscribers remember who you are!

3) Your Promos

Now is the time to plan the dates of any product releases. Planning in advance means you can contact affiliates well ahead of time and help things go as smoothly as possible. Or you can plan specific affiliate promos you’ll be doing this month. Whatever kind of promos you’re planning, taking the time to plan them now means you can tie them in with the content you’ll put out this month.

4) Outsourcing

Now you know all the content you’re putting out, think about what you can do yourself and what needs to be outsource. Planning your outsourcing early helps things go more smoothly so you get things ready ahead of time.

Don’t Forget Marketing!

All of the above tasks are things you need to do to keep your business running. But marketing is something that we can neglect for a while, because it’s not the core focus of the business. But marketing really is essential!

One of the problems is that there are so many ways to market a business online, we can get overwhelmed. So one idea I’ve had is to focus on one thing for the month e.g. growing my Facebook following or building my list. This helps stop you getting overwhelmed and ensures you’re always moving forward.

So, all of these tasks combined will mean everything you’re doing is working together for a purpose (like I mentioned in a previous vlog asking why you have a blog).

Do you plan things every month or do you tend to wing it? What are you focusing on this month? Share in the comments!
